Adobe Isn´t Desperate

I’ve been playing around with Adobe Flex for a few days. Heard about them open sourcing the Flex SDK later this year. Didn’t think much of it, since it was already free. Then I read this from Dana. Maybe Dana has been wearing OSS goggles for a few too many days, but come on.

If you take a second and think about what Adobe wants to do in the market, this move has NOTHING to do with desperation. It has EVERYTHING to do with aspiration. Adobe wants everyone building browser-based rich internet (more…)

Search Engine Crosses Canadian At Border

Canadian psychotherapist Andrew Feldmar had an unpleasant experience when he tried to cross the border into the U.S. last summer.

During a random check Mr. Feldmar ’s name was googled by a guard and returned results of a 2001 academic paper that had admissions of LSD use nearly 40 years ago. Because of this he was denied entry into the U.S.

SES: Kim Krause Berg of Cre8asite Forums on SEO and Usability


Usability may not be the first thing that comes to mind when SEO is brought up, but it should rank considerably high since it is very important. If people aren’t able to find what they’re looking for when they get to a website, then it doesn’t even matter if they are at the top of the search engines or not.

SES: Barry Schwartz of the Cartoon Barry Blog on Ask.com?s Edison Project


Ask.com has recently announced the launch of their social media element to search. It’s a new search algorithm code-named the Edison Project. The new algorithm is a combination of two search engine technologies of Ask.com called Direct Hit and Teoma.

Google´s Dice is Useless, What I Learned in 20 Clicks

Not long after the news spread that StumbleUpon was to be acquired by eBay, Google announced what many considered to be a direct competitor to StumbleUpon. Today I learned once again that this is far from the truth.

Before we were going to report on the new Google offering, Matt and myself were debating the merits of Google’s implementation of their web-discovery tool was and really doubted the usefulness of basing the results on web history.
