Learn To Love The Bounce Rate

When it comes to website analytics, bounce rate is as dead sexy as it gets when it comes to statistics.

Site performance from a marketing standpoint can be understood better by webmasters who get the concept of the bounce rate. The bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits a site receives.

Google’s Alden DeSoto wrote on the Google Analytics blog how the bounce rate can help figure out troubles with a site’s conversion performance:

Radio Internet Day of Silence


June 26th is Internet radio’s scheduled “day of silence.” The Radio and Internet Newsletter (RAIN) organized this event in an effort to overturn the increasing royalty fees. They are encouraging users who regularly listen to Internet radio to take the time to call their Congressmen in support of the Internet Radio Equality Act. SoundExchange endorses the fee adjustment saying it prevents royalty recipients from being overpaid and underpaid. Follow-Up Story:The Day after Internet Radio?s ?Day of Silence?


Internet radio went silent yesterday in protest of royalty fee increases. Listeners were asked to contact representatives in support of the Internet Radio Equality Act, and they did. Servers were overloaded and Congressional switchboards were constantly busy. The organizers of the event, the Radio and Internet Newsletter (RAIN), believes the “day of silence” was successful. Top 10 Things Digg Needs (Or Needs to Improve On)

Everyone’s favorite socially driven news site has a lot to offer but could also learn a lot from its users. Here are 10 things I feel the site needs to work on.

1. Photo Section: Many articles on a daily basis that are just pictures with (PIC) in the description. This has been requested for some time now by much of the community.

2. Site Mail: This is a feature they have on Netscape and just gives the site a more social feel.
